The Giant Tube Worm is a very unique species that lives and survives in its deep sea environment. Giant tube Worms are found on the floor of the Pacific Ocean, near the hydrothermal vents. It lives inside a long narrow tube made of chitin, a protein complex that protects the soft insides of the worm, that attaches it to the ocean floor. It has a red plume, the mouth of the worm, which is used to take in nutrients from the surrounding water. Although they are similar to leeches and earthworms, Giant Tube Worms have no moving ability except the movement of going into its shell when disturbed. To go in and out of its tube, they use their longitudinal and circulatory muscles that are found under their skin.
